Why does my netgear router keep disconecting our computers from the internet?

Question:

we have a netgear router and we have two computers connected with linksys receivers. Currently we have tree computers connected through the router the other computer is connected with an ethernet cord. It seems that every time i get on WoW( World of Warcraft), sometimes the other comps are on WoW as well, the router freaks out. All the computers get disconected and the check light and the «i» light turn yellow. When i unplug my wireless receiver the «i» light and check light go back to green then i can hook my internet up again and it starts all over after my computer is connected to teh internet successfully for 5 minutes. Even as of right now i just got disconnected from the internet while typing this message. PLEASE HELP!

Answer:

I think you are going to have to upgrade your router. WoW can produce an awful lot of traffic, and two comps on at once could cause the router to think it is under a DOS (Denial of Service) attack.

Check the router logs to confirm.

You may be able to upgrade the firmware or do some port forwarding s to fix this, but my guess is the router is being overloaded and you’ll just have to step up to the plate and get a better one.
